Referees,

On behalf of the Executive Committee and volunteers who are the driving force behind GVMBH, I personally wish to welcome you to the new season.  As the Referee-In-Charge (RIC) my vision is simple:

Always be your best, and provide the most professional service towards all involved at all times”

League levels:

  • Tykes (age 5-6):              officiated by coaches;
  • Peanut (age 7-8):            officiated by officials at least 12 years of age;
  • Pup (age 9-10)                  officiated by officials at least 12 years of age;
  • Pee Wee (age 11-12):      officiated by officials at least 14 years of age;
  • Minor (age 13-14):           officiated by officials at least 16 years of age;
  • Major (age 15-16):           officiated by officials at least 18 years of age;
  • Junior (age 17-19):           officiated by officials at least 21 years of age

Game Info:

  • 2 Official System;
  • 1 Jr official and 1 Snr Official minimum;
  • 2 x 20 min running/stop time periods, 3 min warm-up and 1 min break between periods (1 hr game slot);
  • Horn will sound to end the game 2 minutes before the game slot period officially ends;
  • Min age of officials permitted to officiate is 12;
  • Jr Official:   12 – 17 years old;
  • Snr Official: 18 and above (2 years’ experience)

Rules:

Canadian Ball Hockey Official Casebook/Rulebook (to be provided at the clinic)

Official Referee Uniform

  • Canadian Ball Hockey Association (CBHA) short or long sleeve crested jersey (mandatory)
  • If you are wearing a long sleeve jersey, *Red arm bands are prohibited*
  • Black shorts or sweat pants
  • White socks
  • “Acme Thunder” whistle
  • Running shoes (non-marking)
  • CSA Certified Black Helmet (mandatory) and CSA Certified, Half Clear Visor (visor mandatory for officials under 19 years of age)

Recommended to wear:

1.       Jock/Jill;

2.       Shin pad (must be approved/according to Ball hockey Rules)

Before going out and buying this equipment, you should/may wish to wait until the clinic to get some advice on what and where to buy.
